Review of the Uppababy Vista V2

Ahh, the Uppababy Vista V2. The grip that this stroller had on me during my first pregnancy was unmatched. I knew I had to have it even before I was pregnant. It seemed to be the most popular stroller on the market, and everywhere I went, everyone had it. It was never a doubt in my mind that this is the stroller I wanted for my first child. The number of configurations and its ability to grow from a single to double stroller had me convinced that it would be all I ever needed.

Don't get me wrong, I loved this stroller. I will also add that I just love strollers and baby products, and so I had multiple strollers for my first baby. And I was convinced I needed all of them.

Where I went wrong was not getting the entire Uppababy Vista/Mesa set up from the beginning. For my infant car seat, I got the Doona, and then got the Vista for my everyday stroller. And I'll be honest, I also had a Bob Jogging Stroller because I walk five miles every day. If I were to do it again, I would do it differently. I think the Vista shines when you pair it with an infant car seat that can click in. Because I didn’t have the Mesa carseat, my use looked a little different from the beginning.

Things I loved about this stroller:

Having an infant bassinet the first 3-4 months of your babies life is very nice. Not only is it a safe place for them to sleep while on walks, we also had the bassinet stand that we used in our house, and it was a great, safe place to set them down while tending to other things while in our house. It allows for babies to comfortably stretch and move their bodies without being strapped into a stroller. I loved the bassinet attachment for the first few months with a baby.

I also love that you could move the seat from parent-facing to world-facing very easily. There were times I loved being able to look at my baby while we were walking and being able to tend to them really easily, but other times I wanted them to see what was going on. When the baby is little, it is very nice to be able to look at them and tend to them. But as they get older, they love being able to see the world and what is going on around them, especially as they become a toddler.

The quality of the stroller is very nice. Everything from the quality of the fabrics to the suspension of the wheels is very good. The frame feels very durable and does not feel flimsy or weak when pushing it.

The basket is massive and one of the largest on the market. It will fit everything you need for an all day outing while at the same time not affecting the push of the stroller.

Things I disliked about this stroller:

I found the silver frame to scratch very easily. Even folding it up, the folding mechanism would scratch the frame where it locked, and it drove me nuts. When you spend so much money on a stroller, it was frustrating how easily it scratched. Putting this in and out of my trunk, something would get scratched, whether it was unfolding it on the ground or putting it into my trunk on the rubber mat.

Traveling with the stroller is very risky. We paid for the Uppababy Travel bag and it was worth it. On our second flight, the airline broken the stroller frame, but because we had the travel bag, Uppababy sent a new frame. Had we not had the travel bag, we would have had to pay to get it fixed.

Single Vs Double:

I was sold with this stroller because of its ability to grow with a family, but I will say, it becomes really big, heavy and harder to push when it is a double. The rumble seat that fits the toddler on the bottom is not as big as the main seat, and then it becomes harder to push because the weight of the stroller is on the smaller front wheels, so its harder to push. We had the rider board, and while its a good idea, my toddler would rather walk than ride. And now he’s at the age where he is just too heavy.
